RSS Assignment

I commented ona blog regrading "Waiting for Superman". One of the solutions in this blog is using technology in education, as supplemeting a poor class with technology. Oue school has been for the 2 years a program called 'Options'. Here students have the option to take all of their classes through a combination of online, community resource and other venues. There are regular teachers who checked their work and make sure that the community instructors are masters in their field.

I create my RSS page yesterday. I have checked it today and yesterday a coup0le of times. I have added some feeders and I am becoming more familiar at l;looking what it interest me. I have added some new blogs and responded to a couple of them.

I am quite excited on being able to do this. I think that the amount of ideas through sharing that I'll be able to implement in my school are going to increase in number. I am not in a classroom. I am psrt of the Options program and the Community resource department in charge of the math and sciences. I talked to the students on a weekly basis to make sure that they are on track and the classes are going fine. I believe that my ability to help them will augment considerably by me becoming familiar with all this technology.

I think I have a ways to go but this is just the 1st week!

Rosi's RSS page

Blog versus Website

Although a blog is actually a website there are key differences between the two of them:

  • A blog is a dynamic website. It can be considered on online diary where the blogger, who can be an individual or team, posts a comment or reaction about a particular subject generating a response from individual interested in that subject.
  • A website promotes less interaction and does not change as frequently. Websites have information on a plethora of topics versus blogs which deal with one topic at a time.
